India–Sweden Strategic Partnership: From Policy Alignment to Technology Co-Creation

Today, India has the world's third-largest startup ecosystem, with startups creating global solutions in AI, fintech, space, drones, biotech, climate tech, and mobility. India offers talent, scale, stability, demand, and the determination of 1.4 billion people.

— The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, European Round Table for Industry

PM Narendra Modi's landmark visit to Sweden has produced six concrete outcomes that redefine the India-Sweden relationship — elevating it from a bilateral trade arrangement to a full strategic partnership built around technology, innovation, and co-creation. For Tarento, a company that was born precisely at this intersection, the moment carries particular significance.

The visit resulted in the adoption of a Joint Statement and Joint Action Plan for 2026 to 2030, structured around four pillars:

  • Strategic dialogue for stability and security
  • Next-generation economic partnership
  • Emerging technologies and trusted connectivity
  • Shaping the future together across People, Planet, and Resilience

Alongside the strategic framework, five specific agreements were announced — the India-Sweden Joint Innovation Partnership 2.0, a virtual Joint Science and Technology Centre, the Sweden-India Technology and AI Corridor (SITAC), a commitment to doubling bilateral trade and investment within five years, and the India-Sweden SME and Start-Up Platform.

Each of these outcomes maps directly to work Tarento has been doing at the India-Nordic corridor for 15+ years.

The SITAC corridor's focus on AI, digital transformation, and industry-startup-research partnerships reflects the kind of work Tarento has been delivering across its AI, Cloud, Data, Integration, and Engineering services for enterprises in both markets.

The India-Sweden Joint Innovation Partnership 2.0, with its emphasis on AI, 6G, quantum computing, and life sciences, creates new ground for the type of technology co-creation Tarento was built to support. The five-year trade doubling target and the SME and Start-Up Platform create a structured environment in which Tarento's experience bridging Nordic enterprise expectations with Indian engineering depth becomes a direct commercial advantage.

Tarento is a Patron of the Swedish Chamber of Commerce India — a position that reflects both its history in this corridor and its active investment in the Sweden-India business ecosystem. As the policy environment formalises what Tarento has been building operationally for over a decade, the company is positioned to grow with it.
